NEW housing project spanning 2.6 hectares will soon provide homes for 1,200 families in Barangay San Simon, Cagayan de Oro City, starting Thursday.

A significant collaboration between local and national governments was showcased yesterday at the groundbreaking ceremony for KlarexVille 4 Macaranas Residences, led by City Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy.

Mayor Uy announced that KlarexVille 4 is just one of fourteen mega housing projects planned for the city.

"This initiative aims to address the housing shortage in the city by providing informal settlers with safer, permanent homes," said Uy.

City Housing and Urban Development Department (CHUDD) Assistant Department Head Cesar Pagapulaan Jr. explained that the name "KlarexVille" was suggested by a Homeowner Association.

They noted that the project proceeded more smoothly under the current administration.

City Council Majority Floor Leader and Committee Chairperson on Rural & Urban Poor & Housing Development, Councilor Edgar Cabanlas, emphasized the collaborative nature of the project.

He stated that KlarexVille 4 is a priority under President Marcos’ “Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino” housing program.

Cabanlas explained that this designation allows applicants to benefit from the Socialized Housing Finance Corporation’s minimal amortization rates and additional government equity.

This is a significant relief for the city, which faces a housing backlog of over 40,000 units.

The project will feature condominium-style units, offering modern living facilities to the beneficiaries.

This innovative approach aims to maximize the use of available land while providing quality housing.

Other city councilors present at the ceremony included Malvern Esparcia, Roger Abaday, James Judith, Jay Pascual, Malou Gaane, and Suzette Magtajas Daba.

Social Housing Finance Corporation Vice President for Northwestern Mindanao, Felman Gilbang, also attended the event.

The local government’s commitment to improving living conditions for its residents is evident in these ambitious housing projects.

Mayor Uy’s administration continues to work closely with national agencies to ensure that these initiatives are realized.

Residents of Cagayan de Oro can look forward to more housing developments in the near future.

The combined efforts of local and national authorities aim to create a safer, more comfortable living environment for all, according to Uy.

As construction begins, the anticipation and excitement among the future residents of KlarexVille 4 are palpable.

"This project represents a significant step forward in addressing the city’s housing needs," said Uy.

Uy stressed that the groundbreaking ceremony marks the beginning of a new chapter for many families in Barangay San Simon.

He added that with continued support and collaboration, the vision of providing adequate housing for all can become a reality.
