By NITZ ARANCON, Correspondent COUNCILOR Teodulfo Lao Jr. yesterday said he was preparing to submit his letter of resignation from a city hall executive committee to Mayor Oscar Moreno next week. Lao’s revelation came a day after city council minority floor leader Roger Abaday resigned as chairman of the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Cadac), and as a member of the Regulatory and Complaints Board (RCB) apparently as part of his preparations for next year’s elections. Abaday is planning to run for vice mayor under Rep. Rufus Rodriguez’s Centrist Democratic Party (CDP). Lao, a CDP member,  said he would resign as chairman of the executive committee of the City Inter-Agency Council against Trafficking (Ciacat) that was created by Moreno in July. He said his decision to support Rodriguez’s mayoral bid has put him in a awkward situation because he still chairs the Ciacat executive committee created by Moreno, and so, he decided to quit öut of delicadeza.” “Bikil na man kaayo kon ako pa ang mag-chairman sa ana nga  committee kay dili na man kami pareho ug political group,” said Lao. Ciacat was formed by Moreno to formulate policies against human and child trafficking in the city, and to strengthen law enforcement efforts against child offenders. Before he resigns, Lao said he would submit to Moreno on Monday a program of activities finalized by Ciacat for the mayor’s approval. He said his resignation letter would come two days later or on Wednesday. “I-una nako pag-submit ang list of annual activities sa Ciacat kay la-in sab kaayo nga akong idungan pag-submit  sa akong resignation letter,” Lao said. The councilor however said he would remain chairman of the city council’s energy committee even as he pledged to support Moreno’s legislative agenda.
