CAGAYAN de Oro Liga ng mga Barangay President and ex-officio Councilor Alam Lim said Gusa Barangay Chairman Marlo Tabac should “look in the mirror” before blaming different political parties for internal disputes.
Last Thursday, Tabac was removed as vice president of the Liga ng mga Barangay after 64 barangay chairmen signed a petition citing loss of trust and confidence.
On Monday, following the oath-taking of re-elected 2nd District Councilor Yevonna Yacine ‘Yvy’ Emano in Gusa, Tabac told the press he was willing to become a whistleblower on alleged vote-buying during the May 12 elections.
Tabac, who served as campaign manager for Mayor Rolando Uy in the city’s 2nd District, claimed Councilor Lim told him he was pressured by Uy to vacate his position.
Lim, speaking yesterday, June 10, on Strong Radio, responded that Tabac should reflect on his own actions before accusing others.
“Tan awon nya iyang kaugalingon before mag storya sya, manamin sya,” Lim said.

Tabac claimed his own party (green) accused him of accepting money from the violet party’s camp, an allegation he denied.
Lim, however, said that accusation was not the reason for Tabac’s ouster. The 64 barangay chairmen signed the petition individually and voluntarily, he said.
Lim noted that he led the Liga responsibly for 13 years and was elected to three terms, which he said reflects his leadership.
“Muabot kaha ko og three terms kung dili maayo akong pagdala? Pero gidalahig naman nuon ko nga wala koy sala,” he said.
Now that the Liga wants Tabac out, Lim said the latter should respect the group’s decision.
“Ako mismo, di ko ganahan mo sulti pa,” Lim said, but added that he felt provoked by Tabac’s public statements.
“Ayaw na pag gamit-gamit sa bisan kinsa — mayor, ayaw na,” he said, urging Tabac to accept that his colleagues had lost confidence in him.
He added: “Dili nya angay ipag-away ang green, violet, orange. Nganong ipag-away pa man na niya?”
Lim said he had even offered Tabac a graceful exit, but Tabac declined.
“Naa sila’y reason nganong namirma sila tanan. Mga honorable na sila — atong i-respect,” Lim said.
He advised Tabac once again to accept the Liga’s decision.
“Atong dawaton. Dili na ta mag-rason. Si Mayor, si Kikang, si Janjan — let’s make it simple,” Lim said.
He added: “Wala na sila pugsa. Demokrasya baya ta,” referring to the 64 barangay chairmen who signed the petition.
