MISAMIS Occidental has registered its second Covid-19 case, Gov. Philip Tan announced this afternoon

The patient is a 68-year-old male from Tudela town who traveled to Cebu City and with pre-existing medical renal condition.

“He went to Cebu last March 9 for medical checkup,” said Tan and that the senior citizen came back March 12 via the Ozamiz seaport.

On March 27, the patient was admitted to the Mayor Hilarion A. Ramiro Sr. Medical Center (Mhars-MC) in Ozamiz City due to recurring fever.

He had already sought medical assistance, due to flu-like symptoms, four days earlier at the town health center.

Tan said specimens taken March 28 were excamined and he tested negative.

The second test on April 4, however, showed that he was infected. Tan received the information about the test today.

Both tests were done by Davao City-based Southern Philippines Medical Center.

“Let’s hope this is not a local transmission,” said Tan and that patient’s house is a bit isolated.

He said Tudela Mayor Samuel Parojinog assured him the town will be placed under an enhanced community quarantine.

The province’s first Covid-19 case is a 47-year-old seaman of Jimenez who was admitted to the Mhars-MC on March 25. (Uriel C. Quilinguing)
