CITY residents need not go to their respective barangay halls to claim their barangay exit passes, city administrator Teodoro Sabuga-a Jr. announced today.
“Nagsugod na print karon. I-hatag dayon nato sa mga barangay. After pirmahan sa punong barangay, i-deliver dayon house-to-house ang barangay exit pass. Ayaw na mo pag adto sa inyong mga barangay hall. Ihatod kana sa inyo balay,” Sabuga-a said during the daily press briefing at city hall this morning.
Executive Order 062, issued by Mayor Oscar Moreno on Tuesday, is in response to reports reaching city hall that residents are still “gathering in sizable crowds at the barangays and other public places in the city.” This is in violation of the “stay at home” and physical distancing protocols of the guidelines set by both the national and city governments.
Sabuga-a explained that each household in the city would receive a barangay exit pass. The pass, he added, is also transferable to any member of the household provided that they are not senior citizens, pregnant or have medical conditions.
To avoid confusion, barangay chairpersons have been directed under EO 062 not to issue any clearances or passes.
The passes, he said, are free of charge as the city government has already shouldered the cost of printing. Sabuga-a warned residents not to photocopy the pass given to them because each pass would have a unique bar code and serial number.
Sabuga-a added that users of the barangay exit passes must wear face masks whenever they are outdoors.
He also reminded residents that the pass cannot be used during curfew hours -- 9 pm to 5 am.
“Ang mga trabahante dili na kinahanglan og pass,” Sabuga-a said adding that their company IDs will suffice.
Implementors of EO 062 are barangay officials and staff, tanods, authorized members of homeowner association within the barangay, and officers and personnel of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office.
“Failure to abide by the foregoing guidelines and measures shall be meted with appropriate action, in accordance with the relevant laws, City Ordinances and regulations,” reads part of EO 062. (Cong B. Corrales)
