THE city council yesterday approved a supplemental budget of P1.013 billion sought by Mayor Oscar Moreno for this year despite an attempt to defer discussions on the proposal.
Twelve councilors voted to approve the budget of P1,013,233,993.26. They are councilors Ian Mark Nacaya, Teodulfo Lao Jr., Reuben Daba, Enrico Salcedo, George Goking, Romeo Caliso, Ma. Lourdes Gaane, Edna Dahino, Jay Pascual, Zaldy Ocon, Annie Daba and Suzette Daba.
Only three councilors opposed the approval of the supplemental budget ordinance: Leon Gan, Nadya Elipe and Lordan Suan.
Councilors Yam Lam Lim and Dometilio Acenas abstained from voting.
The Moreno administration said it would spend the additional budget for various projects, and to increase the salaries of city hall employees.
Councilor Gan tried to convince the city council to defer the approval of the supplemental budget for at least a week but his motion rejected by 12 councilors.
