A MAJOR gift-giving initiative targeting relocation areas of Typhoon Sendong victims has been launched in Cagayan de Oro, according to City Mayor's Office Chief of Staff, Sheila Lumbatan.
The initiative, lumbatan said organized by the city's Housing and Urban Development Department, saw a total of 7,639 families each receive 5 kilos of rice and a Noche Buena package.
The beneficiaries were families relocated due to the tragic aftermath of Typhoon Sendong in 2012.
Chudd's head lawyer Samuel Rollo led the said generous activity that is part of the ongoing support by the city government for fellow Cagay-anond who were victims of Typhoon Sendong.
"Life has been harsh for them, and the City Government wants to do all it can to support and celebrate them, especially during this time of the year," said Lumbatan.
Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy fully backed the initiative, according to Lumbatan, emphasizing the city government's commitment to care for all of its citizens, especially those still striving to rebuild their lives after the dreadful typhoon.
Lumbatan also said He (Mayor Uy) acknowledged the tireless efforts by the City Housing and Urban Development Department to carry out this drive.
The gift-giving initiative represents not just material assistance but also serves as a reminder of resilience and collective unity in the face of adversity, according to Lumbatan.
She said this effort is a small part of a broader slate of measures and initiatives the Cagayan de Oro city government has introduced to support those displaced by Typhoon Sendong.
