CHIEF of Staff for the Mayor's Office, Shiela Lumbatan, publicly announced today that the city of Cagayan de Oro has been awarded 'Best Local Government Unit' by TESDA Region 10.
The award recognizes the city's significant efforts in promoting and implementing Technical Vocational Education and Training programs throughout Misamis Oriental province, earning the city the highest approval and trust rating nationwide.
The commendation was presented at the 2023 TESDA X Awards by TESDA Lanao del Norte Provincial Director Norayah Acas.
Maria Victoria Trinidad, who heads the Technical Skills and Technology Department at Cagayan de Oro City College, received the honor on behalf of the city.
According to Lumbatan, the recognition reflects the successful completion of vocational courses by thousands of trainees at CDO City College.
Courses include Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II, Housekeeping, Shielded Metal Arc and Welding, Barangay Health System, and Carpentry.
"These training programs have been instrumental in helping many individuals secure employment," said Lumbatan.
Notably, the award according to Lumbatan was also presented to Mayor Klarex Uy during a flag-raising ceremony at City Hall on Monday, Sept 4.
City Councilor Suzette Magtajas-Daba, along with the management of CDO City College, were present at the ceremony, expressing their pride and gratitude for the recognition.
"This accolade underscores the local government's dedication and commitment to promoting skills development and providing opportunities for the residents of Cagayan de Oro," Lumbatan stressed.
Lumbatan also emphasized the city's strong partnership with TESDA and its commitment to fostering a skilled and competitive workforce.
The award is a testament to the city's contributions to the overall development and progress of its community, Lumbatan added.
