CAGAYAN de Oro City's local government unit (LGU-CDO) takes pride in being recognized as a contender for the Nutrition Honor Award.
According to the Mayor's Office Chief of Staff, Shiela Lumbatan, this recognition is a testament to the efforts of the City Nutrition Committee, led by Mayor Klarex Uy, as revealed during the 2023 Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony held last November 10 at the Chali Resort and Conference Center.
City Health Officer Dr. Rachel Dilla, together with City Councilor Dr. Malou Gaane, Chairperson of the Committee on Health, and City Nutrition Action Officer Nenita Rabe, received the special citation.
"This acknowledgment emphasizes the city's relentless pursuit of nutrition advocacy and its commitment to promoting public health," said Lumbatan.

Lumbatan said the City Nutrition Committee received several other accolades, such as the Nutrition Prime Award for LGUs with Scaled Up Nutrition Innovations.
This award recognizes the Cagayan de Oro City-Wide F1K Class and Milk Letting Activity, and the #CDONutriclass, both of which are pioneering programs in the region.
To add to the honors, the city also won the 2023 Regional Webby Award for being the "Most Active Social Media" presence.
They also got the Best Feature Article Award for "Trendy and Yummy, but Is it healthy?" written by Kyl Marie Barrientos, a Nutrition and Dietetics student-intern from Lourdes College.
Furthermore, the city takes pride in Sherill Faith P. Española for being chosen as the 2022 Region X Outstanding City Nutrition Program Coordinator, a contender for the National Outstanding City Nutrition Program Coordinator Award.
Loidaliza C. Vizcayno from Barangay Balulang was also recognized as the 2022 Region X Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar, a contender for the National Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar Award.
It is noteworthy that Cagayan de Oro is the only LGU to qualify for the Nutrition Honor Award, the highest accolade in nutrition.
"The city underwent a validation process for this award last May 3-5, 2023," said Lumbatan.
She added that the 2023 Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony, led by the National Nutrition Council Region X, recognizes various Local Government Units and Focal Persons who have shown exemplary performance in implementing nutrition programs and delivering nutrition services to their respective communities.
