IN a spirited display of community service, the East CDO TIMBALO-Eagles Club joined forces with the Del Monte Philippines Inc. (DMPI) group of cooperatives on October 20, 2023 for their annual Blood Letting Activity.
The event took place at Barangay Bugo Gymnasium and was underscored by the message, “Donate Blood, Save Lives.”
The blood-letting program was coordinated in conjunction with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) and received support from the Barangay Bugo Council.
The community-based event aligned perfectly with the nationwide celebration of Cooperative Month in October, emphasizing the crucial role cooperatives play in the country.
This year, Cooperative Month carries the theme, “Cooperative: Pioneering the Path to Recovery Amidst Modern Challenges of Climate Change and Food Security.”
In sync with this ethos, the DMPI group is composed of three major cooperatives, each handling different aspects of their collective mission.
These include the DMPI Employees & Community Credit Cooperative (DMPI-ECCC), Allied Services Multi-Purpose Cooperative (ASMPC), and the DMPI Employees Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative (DEARBC).
The blood-letting activity saw participation from over a hundred individuals, including DMPI employees and members of the Barangay Bugo Community.
In recognition of their invaluable contribution, blood donors received blood donation cards, food snacks, lunch meal, and program shirts.
Remarkably, the East CDO TIMBALO-Eagles Club, a part of The Fraternal Order of Eagles – Philippine Eagles (TFOE-PE), also attended and generously donated blood.
The club's representation included members from the Northern Mindanao Region-XII Bagwis Dos officers and was led by Kuya Governor Eric Daabay and the Chartered Club President, Eagle Philip Lloyd A. Angco.
The Eagles Club members echoed the sentiment of community service and unity in their participation.
“This is a significant event not just for the DMPI group of cooperatives and Barangay Bugo, but for East CDO TIMBALO-Eagles Club as well, as this is in consonance with our purpose - that is to be of service to the Community & Country,” said Kuya Philip.
This blood-letting activity was a monumental testament to the power of cooperation and community service.
In the face of modern challenges such as climate change and food security, it is through concerted efforts like these that communities can work towards recovery and resilience.
It was a day of giving, unity, and hope - a true celebration of the Cooperative Month spirit.
