By NITZ ARANCON Correspondent ANOTHER low pressure area (LPA) in the Pacific Ocean is closely being monitored by the state weather bureau. Luz Mercado, weather specialist at the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) in El Salvador city, Misamis Oriental, said the LPA was approximately 780 kilometers east of Surigao City as of 10 am yesterday. Mercado said the LPA, the second to hit the country this year, is being closely monitored because it can develop into a tropical cyclone. If it does, it would be called “Bising” by Pagasa. “Hino-on, gamay ra ang possibility nga mahimo kining tropical cyclone, sulod sa 24 to 48 hours,” she said. Mercado said the LPA was heading towards Eastern Visayas and Bicol region. Northern Mindanao may not be directly affected, but the LPA may bring rains in some parts of Misamis Oriental, Bukidnon, and this city. Yesterday, cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms were experienced Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Davao, Visayas, Bicol, Quezon, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Ilocos, Cordillera, Cagayan Valley and central Luzon.
