THE Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Office 10 announced that 450 applicants have advanced to the next stage of recruitment following a challenging three-day Physical Agility Test (PAT) at the Pelaez Sports Center in Cagayan de Oro from October 28 to 30, 2024.
Out of 1,604 initial candidates, 1,292 passed the assessment, with only the top 450 performers moving forward.
PNP spokesperson Police Major Joann Navarro explained that the PAT is a crucial part of evaluating physical readiness for law enforcement roles.
“The screening committee selected only the top 450 from those who passed to proceed to the next round,” Navarro said, referring to the neuropsychological examination. This next phase will gauge the candidates’ mental and emotional resilience required for policing.
Navarro added that successful candidates will subsequently undergo medical and dental exams, and if all 450 pass each stage, final selections will be made to determine the last 300 recruits through a randomized or drawn method.
Regional Director PBGen. Jaysen C. de Guzman pointed out the importance of physical fitness in policing, calling it essential for effective response during operations.
He said PAT serves as a critical benchmark in identifying committed officers fit for duty, underscoring the PNP’s commitment to rigorous standards in recruiting capable personnel for public safety.
