By NITZ ARANCON Correspondent THE parish priest of Nazareno Church here yesterday said he was expecting as much as 250 thousand Roman Catholic devotees to participate in the annual Feast of the Nazarene procession in the city on Monday. The police and the military have gone on “full alert” to thwart possible attacks by terrorists, said Interior Secretary Ismael Sueno. The Rev. Fr. Julius Clavero said the preparations are being made by the Nazareno parish in close coordination with authorities. Clavero said he was expecting big delegations of Catholic devotees from Visayas and other areas of Mindanao. Last year, based on Clavero’s estimates, some 200 thousand people participated in the Black Nazarene procession here. “Kada tuig man  magkadaghan ang mga tawo nga mokuyog sa procession sa Black Nazarene ma-o karong tuiga ato nang gi-anticipate ang increase  gikan sa 200 thousand sa milabay nga tuig ngadto sa mga 250 thousand,” he said. Meanwhile, Camp Alagar said it was already all systems go as far as security for the Feast of the Black Nazarene. In a statement, it said the police would start executing a security plan as early as Sunday. A security coordinating conference was held here yesterday afternoon. “Security measures are all set for the Feast of the Black Nazarene in coordination with the city government of Cagayan de Oro and other law enforcement agencies,” said Chief Supt. Agripino Javier. He said Camp Alagar would mobilize 800 officers and field them to key areas on Sunday and Monday. The police would also set up public assistance centers. Javier said the military, Coast Guard, city hall, and other groups would help in provide the needed security coverage. “All possible counter-measures to eliminate reported threats to public safety are being undertaken by joint security forces,” said Javier, adding that even teams of bomb experts and K9 units would be deployed. “Covert security and intelligence operations were already stepped up,” added Supt. Surki Sereñas, Camp Alagar spokesman.
