By NITZ ARANCON Correspondent THE National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) has held the owner of Radio Ultra Broadcasting Corp. liable for illegal dismissal of two broadcasters due to a spat over a donated lechon last year, the Gold Star Daily learned over the weekend. In a 19-page decision signed in Feb. 22,  regional labor arbiter Rammex Tiglao held Clarisa Mae “Girlie” Suan, owner of the firm that operates DxRU-Radio Ultra, answerable for the illegal dismissal of broadcasters Wenefredo Dellava and Edgar Navarro. Dellava and Navarro filed the labor case against Suan in September 2015 as a result of their much publicized lechon spat with their former employer. Tiglao ordered Dellava and Navarro paid P142,809.33 by Suan’s company. Suan was ordered to pay Dellava P62,007.73 in nominal  damages, unpaid wages, proportionate 13th month pay, and  separation pay. She was also ordered to pay Navarro P80,801.60. Tiglao dismissed the rest of the money claim of Dellava and Navarro for lack of merit. The two had asked for some P500 thousand each. Navarro said he was happy with the NLRC order, and did not mind if the compensation was less than P150 thousand. “Our fight was never about the money but justice,” said Navarro. In September last year, Dellava and Navarro went to the NLRC to complain that Suan fired them because they partook of a lechon sent to the radio station by Mayor Oscar Moreno’s son Sean during the August fiesta, and as a gesture of gratitude because the radio station covered an event he had sponsored that day.
