CITY epidemiologist Joselito Retuya announced today that health authorities have traced 18 people who have had close contact with the 34-year-old female from Barangay Carmen who died on Sunday.
During a press briefing at city hall this morning, Dr. Retuya said of the 18 people identified, 12 have already been extracted from the contained area in Carmen and brought to an isolation unit.
“Ato ni silang i-swab. Salamat sa atong kapolisan sa pagtabang sa pagpangita sa taxi. Nailhan na nato. Ato silang ihikling ug ato silang dalhon sa CIU,” he said.
Retuya said the city has a total of five active cases of Covid-19 infections. Of the patients under monitoring, three are currently doing their 14-day mandatory quarantine in an isolation facility and two are admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center’s Emerging Re-emerging Infectious Diseases Unit.
“Ang isa ana for discharge today. Ibalhin na siya sa CIU aron didto na siya magpadayon sa iyang treatment,” Retuya said.
As for the 14th Covid case from Macanhan, Retuya said, the patient is still housed at one of the CIUs.
“Wala na nato gi-hikling (mga close contact) kay ato na man na swab ug negatibo silang tanan,” he said.
He said the health teams have already visited 146,000 households in the ongoing active health surveillance in the city’s barangays.
“Miubos na gyud ang diperensya,” Retuya said pointing out that the difference between the non-resolved and resolved monitored cases of acute respiratory illnesses and influenza-like illnesses in the city has dropped to 8.35 percent.
For his part, Mayor Oscar Moreno said he has issued an executive order for the containment of the area in Dabatian St. in Carmen.
“I will ask the city council to pass an ordinance to support the executive order. We will submit the order to the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force for concurrence,” Moreno said.
The IATF in its resolution, dated June 3, permitted local chief executives to issue localized containment of areas whenever they deem it necessary. (Cong B. Corrales)
