A member of LGBTQ was arrested for trying to slip illegal drugs inside the Misamis Oriental Provincial Jail (MOPJ) Saturday afternoon.
Francis Sarangay, Assistant Provincial jail warden, identified the suspect as Rachel Laguanan, 25, residing at Zone 4, Barangay Bugo, Cagayan de Oro City.
Sarangay said prior to the suspect’s arrest his office had received information that somebody will slip illegal drugs to one of the prisoners at the said jail facility.
“Mao tong amo dayong gibantayan kung kinsa nga tawo ang magpasulod og druga diri sa prisohan. Lawom nang kahaponon nga giabot gyud among gipaabot usa ka tomboy naghulog og usa ka putos diri sulod,” Sarangay said.
According to the report a certain Mark (not his real name), 17 years old, said inmate Francis will be the recipient of the said drugs.
But in an interview with the suspect, she denied she knew Mark. She said she does not also know the person who requested her to bring the illegal item inside the said jail.
The remorseful Echano said she did not know also what is inside the said eco bag.
Sarangay said when they opened the bag they found a big sachet containing a substance believed to be shabu weighing 5.3 grams with an estimated value of P36,000, several tin foils, and a mineral plastic bottle containing liquor.
Meanwhile, Mark denied he was the one who will receive the eco bag saying, he does not even know Echano.
“Wala man koy hinanawan ana sir ug wala ko kaila anang tomboy. Gusto na gani ko molaya diri unya mag apil-apil na hinoon ko ana,” Mark said.
Mark, who had been inside the said jail for already three years for robbery-murder, said he was surprised why authorities implicated him in the said crime.
It can be recalled that on February 1 the same incident happened at the said place.
Sarangay said they will conduct a thorough investigation to know if the two incidents are connected.
