AFTER weeks of persistent garbage collection issues, Tencil Environmental Management, the city’s contracted waste collection service, has announced it will resolve the ongoing trash problem by this Thursday, May 22.
Jermie Danuco, operations manager of Tencil, said that with the support of the local government and private groups, they are working to complete the cleanup operations within three days, from Wednesday to Thursday.
This commitment was made during a meeting held on May 19, led by the City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office and the City Legal Office.
Also present were representatives from the City Economic Enterprises and Business Development Administration, RTA, CSWD, CIO, Community Affairs Office, and Cocpo participated to discuss strategies for resolving the severe garbage collection backlog.

“With the support of our local government and private partners, we are confident that the garbage problem in Cagayan de Oro will be resolved this week,” said Danuco adding that the collaboration is key to speeding up the process and preventing further issues.
The city has experienced a significant increase in trash buildup over the past few weeks due to ongoing collection problems, resulting in foul odors and overflowing garbage in streets and public areas.
However, Tencil assured residents that they are working to expedite operations and provide a long-term solution within the week.
Residents and business owners are hopeful for a return to a cleaner and more organized city, while local officials have committed to monitoring and improving waste management practices moving forward.
The city expressed gratitude for the cooperation between Tencil and all involved agencies, emphasizing that collective effort is essential to resolve the garbage crisis and maintain Cagayan de Oro’s cleanliness and public health.
