POLICE authorities arrested a 26-year-old jeepney driver in connection with violating the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children.

Bukidnon Police Director Jun Mark Lagare identified the suspect as Renzo Alex Becoy, single, and a resident of Fatima Subdivision, Barangay Alae, Manolo Fortich of the said province.

He was arrested by elements of Manolo Fortich Municipal Police Station headed by Police Major Carlito Chua last Monday at 12:30 am at Zone 1, Barangay Tankulan, Manolo Fortich of the same province.

Judge Jeanne Marie Abarrientos of the Regional Trial Court-10, branch 11, Manolo Fortich recommended Becoy P36,000 bail bond for his temporary liberty.

The suspect is currently under the custody of Manolo Fortich police.

Republic Act No. RA 9262, otherwise known as the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Law (VAWC), defines violence against women and children as “any act or a series of acts against a woman who is his wife, former wife or against a woman with whom the person has or had sexual or dating relationship, or against her child, whether legitimate or illegitimate, within or without family abode, which results in physical, sexual, psychological harm or suffering, or economic abuse including threats of such acts, battery, assault, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty.”
