A TOTAL of 134 vehicle drivers were apprehended by Misamis Oriental police for various violations of ordinances during its scheduled One Time Big Time operation.
Police Colonel Mardy Hortillosa ll, 2nd Police Mobile Force Company (PMFC) Misamis Oriental Provincial Police Office commander - Members of 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) said, the apprehension occurred during its weekly scheduled of OTBT in the 2nd district area of the province covering the area of Municipalities of Opol to Lugait on February 15.
He said that among the 134 117 were traffic violations such as no helmet and set belt, 5 for not wearing facemasks which were cited for other ordinance violation receipts (OVR), 11 impounded motorcycles, and one impounded four-wheel-drive vehicle.
“Our unit would have impounded more motorcycles had it not for some motorcycle drivers intentionally parked their units before the established checkpoint to evade arrest,” Hortillosa said.
He said lack of manpower plus the very wide highway at Alubijid municipality area are just among the reasons why there are limitations in their implementation.
“But bisan pa sa among disadvantage position still, naka impound gihapon mi'g 12 ka motor vehicles which are now under our custody,” Hortillosa said.
Under custody, vehicles will be released after the owner will done settle their obligation to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Initao. That would be the basis to return the vehicle to the owner.
Hortillosa said that most of the reasons the owners why were not able to settle their obligation is due to monetary consideration.
“But such common alibis will not be enough that they will not be cited,” Hortillosa said.
“Again and again, our unit will remind our dear constituents to refrain from using their vehicle if they have the expandable violations so that they will not experience the hardship of finding a lot of money to pay for their violations. We felt so sorry for them when we catch them, but we have no choice except to do our job to lessen the accident and traffic violations in our area of responsibility (AOR) for better peace and order,” Hortillosa added.
He said their group will continue to toe the line on the legal orders of their Provincial Director, Police Col. Raniel Valones under the command of Regional Director Bejamin Acorda, Jr. to make their AOR peaceful and orderly in preparation for National Election 2022.
