A 48-year-old cigarette vendor in Bukidnon was stabbed to death by a still unidentified suspect during a robbery incident yesterday at 11:30 pm.
Police Col. Restituto Lacano, Provincial Police Director of the said province, identified the victim as Joves Cruz married, and residing at Purok-2, Lombo, Valencia City of the same province.
According to the report, Cruz was selling his stuff along Purok-5B, Barangay Vista Villa, Sumilao when suddenly the culprit appeared from behind and announced a hold-up using a knife.
After taking all of the victim’s money and before the suspect left the scene, he stabbed the former twice hitting the lower portion of his chest.
The victim was discovered by a passing motorist who in turn reported the matter to Barangay Captain Jomie Cabactulan.
Cabactulan then rushed the victim to Bukidnon Provincial Medical Center at San Miguel, Manolo Fortich, but was later pronounced dead by the attending physician.
The victim’s motorcycle with plate no. 387-KDT and 15 rims of cigarettes were left at the crime scene.
Sumilao police are still conducting a continuous investigation to identify the suspect.
