RESIDENTS of Neri Street in Barangay Carmen, this city, were horrified after a woman was discovered dead inside a truck in their neighborhood on Wednesday. Police said the crime scene showed signs that it was a murder case.
Chief M/Sgt. Geraldy Lacubtan of the Carmen police identified the victim through her mobile phone as one Ritchele “Che-che Gonzales who was
between 25 to 30 years old.
Authorities said they have identified a suspect: “Danilo Torevillas.”
The suspect, according to Lacubtan, was last seen together with the victim inside the 10-wheeled winged van with license plates KWA-857.
Investigators are still establishing the relationship between the victim and the suspect.
A man’s belt was tied around the victim’s neck. The other end was tied to the steering wheel.
A witness, who requested anonymity for security reasons, said the couple just arrived on Tuesday in the area.
He said Torevillas was supposed to start his job as a truck driver on Wednesday.
He said he and his other companions noticed that the couple had a heated altercation between 9 to 10 pm Tuesday.
In scanning the victim’s mobile phone, the police officer was able to read a text supposedly coming from Torevillas. It reads: “Why man maghikog ka?”
Police said they theorized that the text message was intended to mislead investigators.
