ASPIRING pilots will soon have a new opportunity as Xavier University and Laminar Aviation inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to offer aviation courses starting next year.

The agreement was formally signed Saturday, December 21, by Xavier University President Fr. Mars P. Tan, S.J., and Laminar Aviation founder Capt. Carlo Aclan at Laguindingan International Airport.

Capt. Aclan highlighted that the partnership aligns with Laminar Aviation’s expansion, with its Laguindingan hub serving as a second location after its base at Subic Bay International Airport in Morong, Bataan.

“We chose Xavier University because of its reputation for providing quality education,” Aclan said.

“Its location in Cagayan de Oro is also ideal, being just an hour away from Laguindingan Airport.”

The program will combine ground schooling at Xavier University with flight training at Laminar Aviation’s facilities in Laguindingan.

Aclan assured flexibility in enrollment options, including modular programs, installment plans, and self-paced courses to suit various budgets.

“We’re also offering night classes and online modular options for those who can’t attend traditional schedules,” Aclan added, emphasizing the program’s accessibility.

He also noted the long career lifespan of pilots, with eligibility lasting until age 67, provided they remain capable and fit.

Fr. Tan said the collaboration marks a step forward in Xavier University’s commitment to innovative and holistic education.

“This program reflects our mission to not only achieve academic excellence but also to equip individuals for global competitiveness and social engagement,” Fr. Tan said.

Capt. Aclan encouraged aspiring pilots to seize the opportunity and pursue their dreams through the program.
