We were sitting opposite each other enjoying sandwiches and coffee in a diner, my friend Fely and I when we heard animated talks in a nearby table about how this person got many flowers.
The "marites" in us got a turn on. "Maybe that man died," Fely said.
"Maybe,'' I sort of agreed with her, remembering some person's comment once that a man receives only some flowers in his lifetime only once, and that is during his funeral.
Yet, as the "marites" in us got more and more the better of us, it was not for a funeral but for his birthday.
For his 81st birthday!

So we knew that it was for that man in The Hague. Which is March 28. And I remember two lawyers here meeting on that day together with like-minded individuals in the city to mark that day in support of that red-letter day of that someone who is now in The Hague, the Netherlands because he was "kidnapped" a year ago and taken to that said place. I'm talking about former councilor Betzy Zalsos and incumbent councilor Proviidencio Abragan jr. The two are lawyers. The matter here though was not talked about very much. Meaning, the interest on him here must have run its course, considering that people these days are thinking of how best to address this situation brought about by the US- Israel vs. Iran war.and maybe lesser and lesser of the fate of that man who is now accused of crimes against humanity.
I am aware too that there are plenty of DDS here (Diehard Duterte Supporters) there are many
too who are not but who are just silent about it. And among them are my friend Fely and also my nerdy friend Mike. Who I remember once saying that Tatay Digs is just a "copycat" of Hitler. And even saying that the "Duterte Youth'' partylist is just a "copy" of the "Hitler Youth" .
"Maybe that is true," I said aloud.

"What is true?" my friend Fely wondered and I was aware that I was saying something after silently nibbling the sandwich and drinking the coffee. For she was silent too.
"You see," I said, one of the Duterte lawyers, Ferdinand Topacio is reported to be idolizing Hitler. Because he has even reported to have a picture of the guy hanging in his office. And mind you, he is lawyering for the Dutertes.with feelings."
"Not only him," said my friend. "The DDS people themselves. Did you remember the guy saying that "if Hitler had killed six million Jews, then I can 'slaughter' that number too." And then she continued, "to come up with that 'purified' race, the Aryan ran." Or words to that effect. "Which might also would mean, to purify this country of drugs because 'I hate drugs!' "
So, he appointed himself, the judge, jury and executioner? I half expected my friend Fely to say that, but she didn't.
