MISAMIS Oriental today recorded two more Covid-19 cases, this time in its component city of Gingoog.
Gingoog Mayor Erick Cañosa disclosed this via live streaming on the Facebook page of the city government's information office earlier this evening.
Cañosa said those infected are a 30-year-old construction worker and his one-year-old daughter who returned from Tondo, Manila, on Wednesday. Both are asymptomatic.
The worker's 34-year-old wife tested negative for Covid-19.
The results of the tests, done in a laboratory of the state-run Northern Mindanao Medical Center, brought to three the number of Misamisnons confirmed to be with Covid-19 since Wednesday. The first is a man from Libertad town who came from Saudi Arabia.
Cañosa said the construction worker and his family are among the people who traveled back to Mindanao aboard a 2Go vessel that docked at the pier in Cagayan de Oro.
He said the three were fetched by Gingoog city hall workers and brought straight to an isolation facility in the eastern Misamis Oriental city.
"Ato silang kinasingkasing na dawaton," said Cañosa, adding that the Gingoog government would take care of the family 24 hours a day until they have recovered.
He also appealed to Gingoog residents not to treat the family badly, pointing out that it was not their fault that they caught the virus. (Herbie Gomez)
