DEPUTY Speaker and Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez today said the House of Representatives has approved on final reading over vital measures that are responsive to the needs of the Filipino people especially amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Rodriguez said the chamber approved at least five measures that he authored during the resumption of the House session this week.
He said among the relevant laws that were enacted under Rep. Lord Allan Velasco’s term include House Bill No. 9389, an Act providing comprehensive Nursing Law, promoting a more responsive and effective Health Care System.
Other four bills approved on third and final reading are House Bill No. 8850, an Act modernizing the Bureau of Immigration by defining it’s powers and functions, further professionalizing its organization, upgrading the compensation and benefits of it’s officials and employees.
A House Bill No. 9833, an Act providing stronger measures for the conservation and protection of wildlife resources and their habitats.
House Bill No. 9785, an Act strengthening the Commission on Elections by increasing the manpower complement in it’s field offices, providing office spaces separate and independent from local government units.
And House Bill No. 9731, an Act establishing the Philippine High School for creative arts system.
Rodriguez thanked his colleagues in the House of Representatives for the support and approval of the measures.
“The bills approved by the House will undergo another round of deliberations in the Senate before President Rodrigo Duterte signs them into law,” said Rodriguez.
Earlier this month, HB No. 9522 which seeks to establish College of Medicine at the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) and HB No. 9459 that aims to increase the social pension of indigent senior citizens, both authored by Rodriguez, were also approved by the House of Representatives.
