CITY Mayor's office Chief of Staff Sheila Lumbatan on Friday disclosed the latest updates on several key projects aimed at enhancing the city's infrastructure and addressing flood mitigation concerns.
Lumbatan even provided details on the progress of various construction and improvement initiatives across different barangays in the city.
The construction of the Iponan River Flood Mitigation Structure in Pagatpat, Cagayan de Oro City, now in its sixth phase, is moving forward steadily.
This crucial project aims to enhance the city's resilience to flooding and protect communities along the riverbanks from potential water-related disasters.
"The completion of this phase is expected to significantly bolster the city's flood management capabilities," said Lumbatan.
In Canitoan, another phase of the Iponan River Flood Mitigation Structure project is underway, focusing on further strengthening flood defenses in the area.
She said that with the increasing frequency of extreme weather events, such initiatives play a vital role in safeguarding the city's residents and infrastructure from the impacts of flooding.
Meanwhile, the second phase of the Iponan River Flood Mitigation Structure project in Iponan is progressing well, contributing to the comprehensive flood risk reduction strategy adopted by the city authorities.
By systematically addressing vulnerabilities along the river, these initiatives aim to create a more secure environment for local residents and businesses, according to Lumbatan.
In Barangay 2, she said that the ongoing improvement of sidewalks and drainage systems is a crucial endeavor to enhance the accessibility and safety of pedestrian pathways in the area.
"Proper infrastructure maintenance and upgrades are essential for ensuring the well-being and convenience of the community members, promoting a more livable urban environment," said Lumbatan.
Additionally, the construction of drainage systems along Ebarle St. and Rivera St. in Barangay 30 is a significant project aimed at improving water management and reducing the risk of urban flooding in the area.
