IN a pivotal development, the general manager of the Cagayan de Oro Water District (COWD) can now breathe a sigh of relief, following the agreement reached on January 25 between Cagayan de Oro Bulkwater Incorporated (Cobi) and City Mayor Rolando Uy.

The accord ensures that there will be no disconnection of the water supply.

General Manager Young and Cobi Vice-president Andrew Pangilinan convened with Mayor Uy to address the ongoing water dispute faced by COWD.

Discussions centered around identifying possible solutions to resolve the issue.

Young said that Cobi has concurred to allow COWD to settle its outstanding balance through installment payments while committing to keep their accounts updated.

He, however, clarified that only the December 2023 billing remains unpaid, assuring that it will be settled before the end of the current month.

“Makatulog na gyud ‘ta. Makaginhawa na gyud ko kay mura’g pila na pud ko ka adlaw worried kay (ko) ana,” said Young, expressing his relief at the resolution.

Young also expressed gratitude towards Mayor Uy for intervening and persuading Cobi to refrain from disconnecting the water supply.

“Nagpasalig sila atubangan ni mayor nga wala nay mahitabo nga pag undang sa supply i-continue lang ang pagbayad namo. Nag promise man sad mi nga we will continue to pay,” Young said.

Young added that Pangilinan assured them that Cobi would issue a statement to reassure the public that they have no intention of discontinuing their bulk water supply in the area.

This resolution marks a significant step towards ensuring uninterrupted water service for the residents of Cagayan de Oro.
