By NITZ ARANCON Correspondent FIRE struck and destroyed some 25 houses at a place called “Hilltop” in Zone 9, Sitio Macanhan in Carmen here yesterday. The fire broke out at around 9:15 am. No one was hurt but the fire destroyed at least P1 million in property, according to district fire marshall Rommel Villafuerte. Many of the fire victims sought refuge at the West City  Central School in Carmen where they waited for aid from the government. Villafuerte said investigators have yet to find out what caused the fire although they already determined that it originated from the house of one Dionedes Ompoc. He said no one was in Ompoc’s house when the fire started. The fire quickly spread to houses that were mostly made of highly combustible materials. Fire fighters declared a “fire-out” at around 10:18 am.
