THE Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) yesterday led a team of law enforcers in launching the “Hapsay Dalan” campaign, clearing the highway of obstructions, towing illegally parked vehicles, and slapping violators with fines.
The “Hapsay Highway” campaign started from Lapasan to Puerto, and the clearing operations would continue to be carried out in an effort to improve the vehicular traffic flow on the highway from Bugo to Iponan.
The campaign is being carried out together with the Land Transportation Office (LTO), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the Highway Patrol Group, and the traffic division of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo).
Cocpo traffic division chief Warlito Serna served as the “ground commander” of the Hapsay Highway operations yesterday.
RTA chief Nonito Oclarit said the Hapsay Highway team started issuing citation tickets to establishments responsible for the obstructions, many of which are construction materials piled up on the roadsides and the road itself.
He said many drivers of illegally parked trucks were also issued tickets.
Oclarit said the violations would be recorded. Erring establishments and drivers would be required to pay a P1,500-fine each for the first offense.
“Lu-ag na kaayo ang atong highway karon from Gusa to Puerto,” he said.
