AFTER 14 years of hiding, a 57-year-old murder suspect, a farm caretaker, has finally fallen into the arms of the law.
Provincial Police Director Raniel Valones, identified the suspect as Rolando Echano, married of Zone 3, Barangay San Juan, Balingasag town, Misamis Oriental
The suspect was arrested after a warrant of arrest was served to him by elements of Balingasag Municipal Police Station led by Police Major Teodoro Panganiban de Oro, Officer-in-Charge together with the elements of Regional Intelligence Department PRO-10, Provincial Intelligence Unit led by Police Major Jonathan Fabre under the direct supervision of Police Lt. Col. Adolfo Mercado, Jr.
In coordination with police personnel from Manila Police District led by Police Lt. Col. Gene Licud Commander ng MPD-Sampaloc Police Station 4 at 4 pm., the suspect did not resist arrest but peacefully yielded himself to the arresting officers
Echano was tagged by police as the number 1 most wanted person at the municipal level
Judge Armando Yanga, Presiding Judge, National Capital Judicial Region, Regional Trial Court-Branch 173, recommended the suspect no bail bond.
Echano is currently under the custody of Balingasag municipal police station for booking and documentation and will be turned over to the issuing court for proper disposition.
Valones commended the operating personnel for a job well done in the implementation of the Letter of Instructions “Manhunt Charlie” and encouraged personnel of the province to continue its unwavering efforts to eradicate all forms of criminality within their area of responsibility and keep on reinvigorating its anti-criminality campaign.
