A 46-year-old petroleum peddler was shot dead while inside his residence with his family at Barangay Bayabas, Cagayan de Oro City.
Police Col. Aaron Mandia, the city’s police director, identified the victim as Cesario Mirasol aka ‘Gaga,’ married, residing at Zone 2, diversion highway of the said barangay.
Mandia told reporters that the incident took place at around 9:50 am, Sunday, this week.
The suspect succumbed to four gunshot wounds ― two to his head, one to the left side of his ribs, and another to his right finger.
According to the information from the victim’s wife gathered by police investigators, it was learned that Mirasol was about to take supper with his family and children when suddenly a hitman barged inside and declared in a vernacular ‘walay lihok’ and then shot the victim three times that resulted to his instantaneous death.
Mandia said the suspects were riding in tandem on board an orange Yamaha-Mio.
After shooting the victim the suspects fled away in an unknown direction.
Personnel from the Scene of the Crime Operatives found three fired cartridges of a caliber .45 pistol near the victim’s body.
Police Major Mario Nalla, Police station 4 commander who immediately responded to the crime scene said Mirasol was known in the area as engaged in a small-time petroleum business known as ‘paihi.’
In line with the said incident, Mandia immediately directed the said station commander to conduct a hot pursuit operation against the perpetrators if only to give justice to the bereaved family.
All exit points were properly manned and locked down for possible interception of the suspects.
Mandia also clarified that the incident was not an election-related incident.
