CAGAYAN de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez on Friday said the celebration of Higalaay Festival has inspired his fellow Cagayanons to value the cultural heritage and the solidarity that the city has forged through the years.

In his message, Rodriguez hoped that Cagayan De Oro City residents have a “happy and meaningful” celebration of the festival.

“Despite the great challenge of today's difficult times, the Covid-19 pandemic, Cagayanons continue to pay tribute to patron Senior San Agustin,” according to Rodriguez.

“My warmest greetings to all Cagayanons on the occasion of the Higalaay Festival,” Rodriguez said.

The Deputy Speaker, Rodriguez also enjoined his fellow Cagayanons to stay proud of their history and traditions, so that they may truly understand, appreciate and value our identity as a people.

He also urged them to remain united to further boost the economic activities in the city.

“Above all our united prayer is that we will stay healthy with our entire family and that the spread of COVID-19 will stop,” he said.

“We work together to prevent COVID-19 through vaccination and always follow our government policies. Again, happy fiesta Cagayan de Oro City,” Rodriguez said. (Ben Balce)
