“UNITY is very important in governance. Without it, we will never achieve our dreams to serve the people.”
This was just among the things newly assumed City Mayor of Cagayan de Oro Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy told city hall officials and employees during this morning’s first flag-raising ceremony under his administration.
To the newly elected city councilors both from the majority and minority groups who were present during the event, He said, he does not want a gap between them.
“We are all servants of the people. It must be our joy to serve them well. We have to show to them that in spite of our political differences still, we are united for the good of our city,” Uy said.
To confirm his statement, the mayor said, by next year he wants city hall employees not to wear the color green again in their uniforms if only to avoid political identities. (Green is the official color of Uy’s political group, especially during the campaign period).
“Maulaw ako nga gamiton ang akong kolor hilabi na nga kwarta sa katawhan ang gigasto niana. Ok lang kung ang akong personal nga sapi gigamit,” Uy clarified.
Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Jocelyn Rodriguez, in her speech, said that she would not be a burden to the mayor.
“Mayor Klarex, makalaum ka sa akong suporta hilabi na kung kana kaayohan sa kinabag-ang katawhan,” Rodriguez said.
To the employees, Uy said he will request the budget officer Atty. Percy Salazar to give to them the differential bonus before the city fiesta. It was learned that an amount of P66 million has already been approved in January and it was supposed to be implemented in June.
The said declaration was met with massive cheers among the crowd.
The chief executive also dismissed talks that he will remove all department heads and job orders at city hall.
“Dili ko kana kinaiya nga palisdan ang katawhan. Dili puede nga ang nanginabuhi para sa ilang pamilya imong pagatangtangon sa ilang panginabuhian. Ang ako lang gusto nga motrabaho tang tanan,” Uy said.
Though, he warns those who are lazy and irresponsible workers that he would also not hesitate to deal with them adding, that if a worker is not diligent in their job it also means they do not also love their families.
This morning’s affair was well attended by newly-elected and reelected city councilors.
