THE Cagayan de Oro Water District (COWD) today announced its decision to extend relief measures in line with the quarantine measures in the city and in parts of Misamis Oriental.

To stem the spread of COVID-19 and in line with Executive Order No. 049-2020 issued by Mayor Oscar Moreno and the declaration of Misamis Oriental as under General Community Quarantine from May 1-15, 2020 by the National Government, the following economic relief measures shall be implemented:

One is the decision to defer the disconnection of COWD services on those with overdue accounts “until further notice.”

COWD announed that due dates of water bill payments falling within the period March 17 to May 15 will be further extended to a total of 60 days without penalty and interest.

If the original due date, for instance, is March 17, the deadline for payment has been moved to May 16, 2020.

“We are also encouraging everyone to continue using water wisely so as to better manage our water consumption which may increase since most of the family members are staying at home and also due to the summer heat,” reads part of the COWD announcement.
