POLICE arrested yesterday noon one of their colleagues after he shot to death his best friend in Barangay Agusan, this city.
Police Maj. Peter Tajor, Police Station 6 chief, identified the suspect as Police Staff Sgt. Junlit Lubino. He is assigned to the Jasaan police station as a beat patrol.
While the victim was identified as Drixel Tumbaga. Both of them are residents of Zone 3 of the said barangay.
Tajor said the killing stemmed when the suspect and the victim, together with another friend, were having a drinking spree at the suspect’s house.
“Matud sa usa nila ka kauban si Norbeto Sabonot nagkalalis daw ang duha ka mag best friend. Misulti daw ‘tong biktima nga ‘di ko mahadlok anang pusil. Diha-diha namusil na dayon ang maong pulis,” Tajor said.
Tumbaga, who was reclining on a bench when he was shot, sustained a gunshot wound to the chest.
He was rushed to Puerto Community Hospital only to be declared dead upon arrival.
Tajor learned that the suspect had been drunk since Wednesday.
Responding authorities from the said station arrested Lubino.
Confiscated from the suspect’s possession were his issued firearm, a Glock 17 9mm caliber, 14 live ammunition, a pistol magazine, and a fired cartridge.
The suspect is currently detained at the Puerto police mini-cell awaiting the formal filing of a murder case.
