AT least 847 mostly young people attended a two-day Theoretical Driving Course held on June 27 and 28 at the Covered Court of Manuel Lugod School in Barangay 10, Gingoog City, confirmed Barangay Chair Cynthia Gamboa.
Participants hailed from various barangays in the city, particularly Barangays 10 and 9, and the nearby town of Medina in Misamis Oriental, she added.
The event was organized by Marissa E. Cajardo, District Head of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Gingoog City, in collaboration with City Mayor Erick G. Cañosa, noted Chairwoman Gamboa.
“The two-day Theoretical Driving Course is a significant help, especially to the youth prone to car accidents, particularly when driving a motorcycle,” said Barangay 9 Chairman Louie Jaminal.
Conducted by the Traffic Adjudication Department of LTO-10, headed by Department Chief Michael Laureta, the course aimed to educate young drivers on traffic rules and safety.
“It is a great opportunity for us as young people to have this kind of activity for free,” said Wenz Benedict Gomez, a Grade 12 student at Gingoog City College.
“Through this course, we can learn a lot about traffic rules, regulations, and safe driving.”
Wilfredo Valmores of the Traffic Adjudication Department of LTO-10 emphasized traffic rules, regulations, and penalties to the participants.
