BUTUAN City — A local Budol-budol Gang has struck again. This time the gang victimized a 33-year old Filipina married to a Sri Lankan trader who lost P20 thousand-worth of Saudi Riyal and her assorted jewelries with estimated worth of P50 thousand.

Police identified the victim as Mary Ann Austria Galendez, 33, married, and a resident of Emily Homes, Libertad, this city.

Galendez personally reported the incident to Butuan City Police Station 3 that she was allegedly swindled by five still unidentified suspects (three female, one male) –– all members of crime group, Budol-Budol Gang.

Galendez narrated to the police her ordeal on Tuesday, at around 12:45 pm, when she was walking alone along the national highway in Barangay Libertad –– particularly front of Sto. Niño Cathedral Church –– when one of the female suspects, aged 40s, at least five feet in height, chubby, fair complexion, approached her and sought help to accompany her to Robinson’s Mall to buy feeds for her fish and that she didn’t know where to buy inside the mall.

While they were in the middle of their conversation, another woman appeared –– aged 30’s, 5’4 in height, slim, fair complexion –– introduced herself as Korean and English speaking insisted that she knew where to buy the feeds for the fish. Suddenly, another woman suggested that the three of them will go to Robinsons mall with their driver to fetch them.

Minutes later, a Maroon Van, unknown plate number driven by unidentified male person came and the three of them boarded said vehicle. To win the trust of the victim, the three female suspects put their cash money and jewelries inside the bag, blue/gray color and victim was asked to put also her money and jewelries.

Victim was convinced to put her 2,000 Saudi Riyal and her assorted jewelries and sling bag was given to her. Few minutes after, she then realized that she was swindled by the suspects when she opened the bag and discovered the money were replaced with folded papers with her assorted jewelry missing.
