CAGAYAN de Oro City’s revenue district office 98 (RDO 98) has asked people who pay taxes to help the government. They want people to pay their taxes correctly and start using the tax office’s online tools.
RDO 98 head Monib Dimalomping spoke about this important issue when they started the tax campaign for the year 2024. The event happened in city on February 26.
Dimalomping pointed out how important it is for everyone who pays taxes and those who collect taxes for others to give the right amount of money to the government.
He said the money from taxes is very important because it helps the government have enough money to do its job well.
He even agreed with the President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who believes that paying taxes is not just a duty.
It’s also a way to invest in the country’s government, economy, and the future of all the people, including kids who will grow up later, said Dimalomping.
The RDO 98 has to collect a lot more money in taxes this year than last year. They have to collect P10.67 billion, which is 27.22% more than what they collected before.
To reach this goal, they plan to make sure everyone follows tax laws, check on tax issues more, and make tax processes digital.
Doing all this is part of the government’s plan to get more money from taxes so they can spend more on important things like public services, building things like roads and schools, and making society better.
Dimalomping told people who pay taxes and those who help others with taxes to use the BIR’s electronic services (e-Services).
He believes that if everyone works together and uses new technologies, the tax office can do a great job and meet international standards for taxes.
The call for using digital tools and paying the right amount of taxes is a part of the government’s efforts to improve how it collects taxes.
“This approach is expected to make the tax system better for everyone involved,” Dimalomping said. (With a report from APB/PIA-10)
