Edrote had stepped down as Macasandig’s barangay chairman after the Office of the Ombudsman ordered him and two others dismissed and perpetually disqualified from holding public office last year due to a grave misconduct case filed by Macasandig barangay  councilor Aaron Neri, Jesus Olano, Carlson Villegas  and Eric Waban. Neri had taken over as barangay chairman, ran for city councilor and lost in the May elections.

This year, the ombudsman downgraded the case against Edrote to simple neglect of duty, and then ordered him reinstated after a suspension.

There was feasting at the barangay hall of Macasandig as Edrote assumed as the chairman again.

The case was filed because of the barangay hall’s purchase of construction materials from the establishment owned by one of Edrote’s subordinates and coespondents.

The ombudsman however upheld its decision against barangay  secretary Ma. Fe Campanilla and barangay  treasurer   Rey  Ranes Balandra, the establishment’s owner.

Neri has stepped aside and took back his post as a Macasandig councilor. (nitz arancon)
