BUTUAN City — The ever elusive vigilante gunmen have struck again. This time killing a former Tokhang responder and seriously wounding another at the heart of the city at the corner of Villa Fidelina Commercial Complex, Ochoa Avenue on Sunday.
Report from the City Police Central Office through PO3 Anthony Echin identified the victims as Bent Jamil Salidaga, 24, single resident of Purok 5, Barangay Villa-kangga and his wounded companion James Booc Maquilan, 27, single, a resident of Purok 4, Barangay Villakanangga, Butuan City.
Dead victim Salidaga was shot five times in different parts of his body while his companion Maquilan, a relative of former Congresswoman now PEZA Chief Charito Booc Plaza and former number one Butuan City Councilor Ryan Anthony Booc Culima was shot once in the chest.
Salidaga who is former tokhang surrenderee and alleged known drug pusher per admission of his parents died on the spot while Maquilan who admitted to have used drugs before but has stopped using shabu after he got employed managed to drive himself to a local hospital who give him immediate treatment on his bullet wound.
As usual like other vigilante killings in the region, there are already 17 victims in Caraga Region which includes Butuan City, the region’s capital. Caraga PNP said that intelligence personnel of Butuan City Station are still conducting follow-up investigation for possible identification of the culprits.
