The Province of Misamis Oriental has been preparing for Tourism Week 2017 on Sept. 11-15, with various activities lined up to show to the world that it’s more fun to stay here in the province.

Provincial Tourism Office head Yvonne Waga said the celebration will showcase the must-see tourist spots in Misamis Oriental and to promote these to entice more tourists to visit the province.

“Promoting our tourist destinations to be known worldwide speaks on our behalf that Misamis Oriental is really a must-visit place in Mindanao aside from the corresponding benefits that it will give the people of the province like job and business opportunities,” Waga said.

She said Governor Yevgeny Vincente Emano is keen on developing and discovering more tourist sites, accommodations and delicacies to boost the province’s tourism industry.

Misamis Oriental is well-loved for its Divine Mercy Shrine in El Salvador City, Initao Nature Park in Initao town, Duka Bay in Medina town, Philippine Sailfin Lizard Park in Barangay Solana, Jasaan town, Sagpulon Falls in Barangay Isidro, Jasaan, Cebu Pacific Flight 387 Shrine nestled between the adjacent mountain ranges in the Municipality of Claveria and Gingoog City, Civoleg Falls in Lunotan, Gingoog City, Aya-Aya Falls in Lugait, Alibuag Cold Spring in Medina, and Agutayan White Island in Jasaan town.

This year’s celebration carries the theme, “Sustainable Tourism: A Tool to Development.”

Various activities include photo and painting exhibits at the Capitol Grounds and Centrio Mall Activity Center and tour package dryuns. (pio misor)
