TWO fishermen from Misamis Oriental died after the fishing boat they used in catching fish capsized along the shores of Pintuyan town in Southern Leyte at 3:30, this morning.
Police Staff Sgt. Edmer Bermoy of the Pintuyan police station, identified the fatality as Rowel Dialel, 50, married; and Amay Paglinawan, 49, married, all residents of Barangay San Antonio, Jasaan, Misamis Oriental.
They were rushed to Pintuyan District Hospital where they were declared dead upon arrival.
The two were among the six other companions fishing at the sea of Barangay Manglit when the said tragedy occurred.
The others who survived the mishap were identified as Gelermo Habagay, 30, married, Tomy Deskarten, 46, married; Garry Deskarten, 47, married; Romeo Abalida, 26, single; Ariel Talido, 29, single; and Kenneth Brigole, 24, single, all of San Antonio Jasaan of the said province.
According to the report, all the fishermen were at the said boat from Jasaan and were at the said place to deliver their caught fish.
They were not able to return to their place due to strong winds and big waves as a result of the bad weather in the area.
Waiting for the storm to calm down, they decided to just anchor their craft approximately 100 meters from the shoreline of the said barangay.
However, strong waves strong winds that carried big waves repeatedly banged the vessel until it capsized.
All the rescued survivors are now under the custody of the Municipal Risk Reduction and Management Office of Pintuyan.
