POLICE shot and killed a suspected drug addict who went berserk and attacked a barangay tanod and an officer in Zone 9, Barangay Patag, this city, shortly before noon yesterday.
Chief Insp. Gil Agpaoa, Carmen police commander, identified the fatality as Noniño Sionzon, 31, a resident of the place.
Agpaoa said Sionzon attacked and wounded PO2 Erlito Senados and Angelito Natayag, a member of the barangay tanod.
Agpaoa said Sionzon had been running wild for three days already. When he turned violent again at around 10 am yesterday, he said, Natayag and other barangay tanod members came and tried to calm Sionzon down.
Instead, Agpaoa said, Sionzon attacked and wounded Natayag.
Unable to handle Sionzon, Agpaoa said, residents sought the help of the police and soon, PO2s Erlito Senados and Jordan Sandalo came.
Agpaoa said Sionzon did not listen and instead attacked PO2 Senados with a screw driver and icepick.
Agpaoa said Senados and Sionzon wrestled for a while and the officers were forced to shoot the amok on the head and chest at around 11:50 am.
He said the policemen rushed Sionzon to the JR Borja Memorial General Hospital where he was declared dead at around 12:30 pm.
“Gidapatan pa ug tambal sa mga doctor ang maong suspect pero dili na man modawat ug tambal ang iyang lawas tungod sa drugs,” Agpaoa said.
