A young, promising boxer from Cagayan de Oro City Amateur Boxing Team has reached the gold medal bout in the on-going Asian Schoolboy Boxing Championships (ASBC) in Kuwait.

Reymond Lofranco defeated Jordanian Omar Tayserai during the semifinal round in the 46 kgs category.

His compatriot, Robert Malunoc Jr., however, failed to advance in the championship round in the 35 kgs category.

Lofranco will face a boxer from Uzbekistan in the gold medal match, according to Team CDO Boxing Head Coach Elmer Pamisa.

Win or lose, the three-man boxing team is already assured of a silver and bronze medal, Pamisa added. (Ian Fuente for CIO)
