PAGADIAN City — Former Deputy Brigade Commander Col. Jose Maria Cuerpo II, assumed as ommander of the 103rd Infantry Brigade in Marawi effective last week, the military reported.

He succeeded Brig. Gen. Romeo Brawner, Jr. who has been appointed as the Commandant of the Philippine Military Academy, the day before, according to the report.

Cuerpo is a member of Philippine Military Academy Class of 1990, an Airborne, Special Forces, and well-rounded military officer with expertise in operations, intelligence, and management.

The military dispatch also said that he is a graduate of Master in Development Management in the Asian Institute of Management in Makati City, Command and General Staff Course in AFP Command and General Staff College.

He served as the commanding officer of the 8th Infantry Battalion, Assistant Chief of Staff for Personnel, Logistics and Chief of the Governance Strategy Management Office in the 4th Infantry Division, based in Cagayan de Oro City, the report added.

In his speech, Cuerpo vowed to uphold the priorities and directions of the previous commanders, as the unit’s guide to maintain the cohesiveness efforts in the pursuit of peace and development in the province of Lanao del Sur, it was said.

He also pledged to vigorously continue to render assistance to the Task Force Bangon Marawi.
