WHAT started out as a heated argument turned fatal when two siblings killed their own uncle by hacking and stabbing. The suspects are currently at large.
Authorities identified the victim as Rolie Sabaldana while the suspects were brothers Raffy La Roa, 29, and Anthony, 25, all residents of Sitio Calaanan in Barangay Canitoan, this city.
Sabaldana succumbed to a hacking wound to his nape and a stab wound to his neck.
Investigation shows that Sabaldana, who was allegedly intoxicated, stormed into the La Roa residence around 6 pm on Sunday.
Upon entering the house, witnesses said, Sabaldana started berating the brothers’ father, Ricardo, 59, for his “laziness.”
In retaliation, Ricardo shouted back at Sabaldana, calling the victim “boang.” Sabaldana reacted by punching Ricardo for several times.
Seeing his father being mauled by his uncle, Raffy went into the kitchen to get a knife and stabbed his uncle to his neck. The younger brother managed to get an axe and hacked his uncle to the nape that killed his uncle.
The La Roa siblings fled after the incident and have not surrendered to the police as of this printing.
The siblings’ parents, Ricardo and Aida told authorities they do not know the whereabouts of their children and also offered no clue where the siblings could have holed up.
Sabaldana’s body is now at the Bollosoz Funeral Home in Bulua, this city.
