Douglas Garcia, spokesman for the City Health office here, yesterday said this latest fatality on dengue was a six-year-old boy from Barangay Bagong Silang.

“This could have been a very strong strain,” he said as the boy came up with fever for only one day after which he died. The boy was taken to Adventist Adventist Center, he added but to no avail.

Garcia enjoined residents not to drop their guard against the disease and continue their fight against it. Although, he added, cases have declined.

To recall, on Aug. 20, the city was declared under state of calamity. P8 million was then allocated to purchase machines, medicines, chemicals, treated mosquito nets even as the “four o’clock” habit was also launched. The city has registered 1,557 dengue cases then. He did not say how many cases the city has registered to date.
