Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan hosted yesterday the project launching of Access to Sustainable Energy in the Philippines – Clean Energy Living Laboratories (ASEP-CELLs), a project funded by the European Union and is being implemented by Ateneo de Manila University, through its Ateneo School of Government, together with the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives – Local Governments for Sustainability, Manila Observatory, University of San Carlos, and XU.

ASEP-CELLs aims to conduct research studies intended to enhance energy policy-making and program interventions; capacity-building activities to enable institutions to respond more effectively to sustainable, low-carbon energy challenges; and advocacy programs to increase public awareness and stakeholder engagement that will sustain political support and commitment to a low-carbon energy pathway, and energy efficiency.

Guests from the European Union, Department of Energy, among others, underscored the project’s research agenda in relation to national and local energy challenges of the country. (xu comm)
