Members of the City Council will soon conduct a series of deliberations on the proposed 2020 annual budget of the city government of Cagayan de Oro.

In his budget message, Mayor Oscar Moreno said the collaboration between the executive and the local legislature has helped strengthen the administration’s effort toward pushing forward the various programs and projects lined-up in the key development on economic, social infrastructure, environmental management, and institutional sectors.

This will ensure the delivery of basic services to people not only those living in the city mainstream but especially those living in the far-flung barangays of the city, he added.

According to the city mayor, to see to it that the plans are relevant, responsive and inclusive of the needs of the people of the city as well as generally consistent with and responsive to development frameworks at the regional, national and international levels, the Comprehensive Development Plan 2020-2025 was updated as well as its corresponding City 2020-2025 Local Development Investment Plan.

With the vision of making Cagayan de Oro City as the fourth metropolitan area of the country by 2025, Moreno reiterates that the government shall pursue its development agenda with added vigor for programs, projects and activities that are identified to be with its administrative and fiscal capacity to implement.

With a proposed budget of P7.5 billion, 24.43 percent is reserved for General Public Services sector. This will be distributed to programs that will promote order and public safety and for Judiciary, for administrative overhead and for the regulatory functions of the city. (sp)
