Suspected New People’s Army rebels ambushed a police general’s convoy in Dominorog, Talakag in Bukidnon, at around 6:40 am today. The police group was led by Brig. Gen. Joselito Salido, executive officer of Camp Crame’s directorate for integrated police operations. Details have remained unclear as of this posting.

According to a MindaNews report by Froilan Gallardo, Col. Ruel Lami-ing, Bukidnon police director, said three security escorts of Brig. Gen. Joselito Salido, deputy director of the Directorate for Integrated Police Operation in Eastern Mindanao, were wounded when they were ambushed by the rebels in Barangay Dominorog in Talakag at 6:45 a.m.

He said Salido safely got out from the ambush site and proceeded to nearby Barangay San Rafael.

Lami-ing said Capt. Ramil Gighie, head of Salido’s escorts, was wounded along with two others. The lone fatality, he said, died on the spot.

He said there is an ongoing firefight as police and army units rushed reinforcements to the area
